IDEXX Chem Panel/CBC Machines

We recommend doing bloodwork before surgeries, before starting certain medications, and regularly in senior patients. We will draw about 3ml of blood from the jugular vein or cephalic vein. The test can take between 8-10 minutes to run.

A Chemistry Panel allows us to check liver, kidney, and pancreatic function. It also shows electrolyte, protein, and glucose levels.

CBC’s (Complete Blood Count) are meant to show blood cells counts for White Blood Cells, Red Blood Cells, Platelets, and more about your pet’s blood cells!

These machines also allow us to check levels such as progesterone in less than 10 minutes!

Urinalysis

A urinalysis is a laboratory test that examines a pet’s urine. It’s a non-invasive way to assess the health of the kidneys, liver, and urinary tract. We would collect a small amount of urine and then use our refractometer, test strips, and Idexx urinalysis machine to test the urine. Urinalyses can help diagnose issues like kidney and liver dysfunction, bladder infections, diabetes, crystals, and more.

Snap Tests

Heartworm Snap Test: Heartworms are parasitic worms that can cause severe damage to a dog’s heart and lungs. Early detection is crucial for effective treatment. A heartworm snap test is a quick and easy way to determine if your dog is infected.

Parvo Snap Test: Parvovirus is a highly contagious and often fatal disease in dogs, especially puppies. Early detection is crucial for timely treatment and a better chance of survival. A parvo snap test is a rapid antigen test and accurate way to diagnose parvovirus infection. The best way to prevent your pet from getting parvovirus is by keeping them up-to-date on vaccinations.

FeLV/FIV/HW Snap Test: Early detection allows for timely treatment and management of these diseases. While there’s no cure for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) or FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), early diagnosis can help improve a cat’s quality of life and extend their lifespan. For heartworm, early treatment can be effective in eliminating the parasites.

Regular testing, especially for cats that go outdoors, is crucial to ensure their health and well-being.

Radiography/Ultrasound

Radiographs, or X-rays, are a common diagnostic tool used in veterinary medicine. They provide images of the internal structures of the body, such as bones, organs, and tissues.

Ultrasound imaging uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of internal organs and tissues.

By combining radiographs and ultrasounds, veterinarians can obtain a comprehensive understanding of a pet’s health condition and make accurate diagnoses.
